General Description

Position is responsible for repairing and installing production/manufacturing equipment. Inspects equipment for proper functioning and performs preventative maintenance duties per manufacturer's specifications. Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and makes repairs or adjustments as needed. The position may require weekend and/or holiday work.

Principle Accountabilities

•Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.

•Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.

•Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts. Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Skill in time management and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Ability to set priorities and use good judgment
  • Skill in good oral, written and interpersonal communication

EXPERIENCE

  • Two (2) years’ experience in building and machine maintenance
  • Ability to read diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications
  • Experience using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma preferred

  • Constant work near heat, noise, gas, and chemicals.

  • Frequent physical demands requiring mobile dexterity to include bending, stooping, pulling, climbing, and reaching
  • Frequent exposure to electrical hazard and high-powered tools and machinery
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, infrequent lifting of greater than 50 pounds
  • Infrequent exposure to extreme weather/environment conditions
